Welcome to NOVA 2013/14

Welcome!

My blog is intended for use primarily by my Transition Math students at NOVA.  However, there are other options here and I encourage you to look around to see what I have available for you.

Daily entries will be made for Transition Math homework.  This will include details about specific assignments, their due dates, and (often) copies of the assignments themselves.  These entries will appear in the archives, by date, on the right side of this blog.  You can see examples by selecting any month.

Buttons at the top of this home page will take you to my other pages.  These pages are pretty self-explanatory, but will also change depending upon the season.  For example, my Mo' Chicks button will soon disappear and Mo'Soccer will arrive prior to the spring, but the Mo'Help and Mo'Vids buttons will remain at all times.  The Mo'Help button in particular will provide extra skill tips for students and parents to refer to at home.  Check them out!

Links at the right of this page are also helpful.  All of us at NOVA link to each other's pages, so you can navigate back and forth easily.  I recommend "joining" the relevant class blogs so that you will receive updates even when you are not necessarily checking each blog daily.  I also have links to Quizlet and TeacherEase; websites that you will also find to be useful.

Comments and questions can be left after each daily entry, especially if you need a response from me.  These are connected directly to my email and I am generally able to get to back to you that same evening.

I hope you find this blog helpful; it has been an invaluable tool for my students these past few years.

I look forward to this school year with all of you!
Mo ;-)

'Tis August

We just got back from my favorite summer vacation: 42 years worth of weeks with my family on a remote Eastern Washington lake with no phone or internet service.  I LOVE it.  Ella even tried waterskiing and made it several hundred yards into the lake.

Mr. Jeff and Erik say "hello!"

It has been a busy and wonderful summer so far, but it's also time for me to begin more detailed preparations for when school begins in the fall!  Of possible note for you:
*Fall schedules are almost complete.  Those of you with late request forms (there are still a few of you out there) will receive what's left of the offerings.  Some classes are definitely full!  I will have fall schedules posted in TeacherEase beginning the week of August 26.
*Pre-Algebra: those of you taking the pre-algebra final exam should plan on spending your Monday morning on August 19th at NOVA with Mr. Jeff beginning at 9:30 a.m.  It typically takes around 2 hours to complete this series of tests, so plan for that too.  If this date does not work for you, please email Mr. Jeff at jolfson@novaschool.org.  We would also appreciate it if you verify that you ARE attending so that we know to expect you.  I hope you are using the pre-algebra tab of this blog to get fully prepared!
*New students: please note the new tab on this blog with information that might help you to feel better prepared for math this fall.  We look forward to having you!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me as always: lmanning@novaschool.org
My best to all of you,
Mo ;-)
