Homework for Halloween?

Homework for Monday, October 30

Assignment: Fun with Measurement? - Link!

You may ask anyone for help with this worksheet and you may look up HOW to solve for the answers, but you may not “look up” the answers. No calculators may be used; show your work where needed! I repeat, you may learn HOW to do the answers, but you may not GET the answers ... that part you figure out for yourself. ;-)

Homework for Thursday, October 26

Assignment: Test Corrections
Please note that this is an assignment in itself, it does NOT change your test score.
You will be scored based upon the number of correct corrections you make.  If you don't actually correct it, then it's still incorrect, eh?
*Please CIRCLE the errors in your work
*Please IDENTIFY the specific error you made in the "Reason(s) Missed" column.
*Please REWORK the problem correctly.
*Please write your NEW ANSWER in the "new answer" box.
ALL of these steps are worth points.
If you received 100% on this test and are therefore correcting my mistakes, please follow the same steps as above using the equation on the back of the test corrections sheet.
Everyone: Please indicate whether you are retaking the test with "yes" or "no."
If you ARE retaking the test, please indicate which retake option you would prefer.
*Note: the retest will have the same types of problems, but the numbers will be different.
Due Friday
*Test corrections handed in on Friday, complete with parent signatures will receive one candy point to be awarded on Monday in class. This is true whether or not you missed any on the actual test! Test corrections may certainly be handed in late, but will not receive a candy point. (except Livvy who has a planned absence) ;-)

Homework for Tuesday, October 24

Assignment: Write Mo a Note!
What do you need to do to prepare for the test tomorrow? You can practice a worksheet (see links from this past month), do a Quizlet set, write a Quizlet set, study with a parent, etc. Whatever you do, send Mo an email or write a note and put it into her in-box on Wednesday morning.
Notes:
*Napping and eating, while good things to do, do not count for this particular assignment.
*Whatever you do must be relevant to order of operations and/or central tendencies.
*NEW! Practice with central tendencies and questions, key included - Link!
*This assignment may NOT be turned in late. It needs to be to Mo by your math period tomorrow.
*I will not be checking email between 12:30 and 5:00, so be patient please if you have a question. ;-)

Homework for Monday, 10/23

*Alert! If you are doing the worksheet, number 7 begins with "53" when in fact it should be 5 to the third power. It is correctly written through the Link below.

Assignment: Quizlet or Worksheet
*your choice!
Worksheet - Practice Ops with key - Link!
Follow the directions on the page to get full credit: solve, correct, then correct any mistakes with a correcting pen or pencil. I need to be able to see what you did incorrectly and that you know how to fix it.
Quizlet -
Complete 10 problems correctly from the choice of sets below
Please note: you should complete your set in WRITE modenot LEARN mode. "Write" mode will track of the number you get correct; so work until you get 10 correct.
The sets you may choose from are not in order, but they are listed by date:
*New! Challenge Ops (only select this set if you are super solid and feel 100% prepared for the test on Wednesday)
*Order of Ops - Test level (October 2016)
*Central Tendencies (October 2013)
*Order of Ops - more basics (October 2012)
*Order of Ops with exponents (October 2011)
*Order of Ops #1 (October 2011)
You should work until you get 10 correct in "Write" mode.
To receive credit, send Mo an email that says, "I have completed 'x' Quizlet set," take a screen shot or "print" the page and put it into Mo's basket (don't forget your name!), or write a note stating which set you completed and have a parent sign it.

Homework for Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday ...

Assignment: Quizlet
Complete at least one set by Friday, October 20.
You may complete more than one set, but only ONE per night.
Please note: you should complete your set in WRITE mode, not LEARN as I stated in class. The Learn mode has changed and is not what I'm looking for. "Write" mode keeps track of the number you get correct; you also do not get the multiple choice and/or blank options. This is good. ;-)
The sets you may choose from are not in order, but they are listed by date:
*Order of Ops - Test level (October 2016)
*Central Tendencies (October 2013)
*Order of Ops - more basics (October 2012)
*Order of Ops with exponents (October 2011)
*Order of Ops #1 (October 2011)
You should work until you get 10 correct in "Write" mode. For credit, you may not repeat a set that you have previously completed, but certainly practice the set again if you want to!
To receive credit, send Mo an email that says, "I have completed 'x' Quizlet set," take a screen shot or "print" the page and put it into Mo's basket (don't forget your name!), or write a note stating which set you completed and have a parent sign it.
Due by Friday (one set)
Due Wednesday and/or Thursday also for credit. (one per day)

Assignment: Slugville - Link!
Be sure to show your work for how you calculated each of the central tendencies and matched them to the candidates.
When explaining which central tendency YOU think is most accurate, be convincing! I may just agree with you, but you have to explain yourself ...
And lastly, when four more people move to Slugville, recalculate each of the central tendencies showing all of your work; #f is worth three points!

Homework for Tuesday, October 3

Assignment: Make the Data Fit - Link!
This is an effort based assignment. The idea is that you will attempt to solve these problems, not that you will necessarily complete them ... some of them are tough! Use the organizational skills you have learned from our in-class activities, especially the sticky-note graphs.
Please follow the directions completely before you begin because the directions give you the standards for which you are grading yourself:  no distractions: no music, no television, no conversations, no help, no nothing.
*You do NOT need to work on these problems in order.
*Set a timer for 15 minutes of uninterrupted time and try your best to puzzle these out.
*When the timer goes off, grade yourself using the scale on the worksheet.
*If you feel you are distracted, your mind is drifting, you haven't tried as much as you have been frustrated and stuck, then lower your score accordingly. The grading scale on the worksheet is a guideline.
WHEN YOU ARE DONE and AFTER YOU HAVE GRADED YOURSELF, you may work on these problems more and even work with a parent or other puzzle-minded person if you’d like, but it is not required. Your grade for this assignment is based on your scoring of yourself using the above requirements, not upon completion of the assignment. This is brain math-aerobics!
