Homework for Thursday, March 30

Assignment: Walking Along - Link!
We have done line plots several times this year.  Now you are creating one with the perspective of product and sales.  You have been given a data table and the first two data points in each category have been put on the graph for you.
*Feel free to create your own vertical grid lines, but use a ruler to do so!
*The questions are all answerable.

Homework for Wednesday, March 29

Assignment: Test Corrections
For clarification:
*These corrections are an assignment of their own.  You receive credit based on the number of correct corrections that you make from all problems you missed on YOUR original test.
*It is in your best interest to identify and understand your mistakes, hence that's what we're doing.
*These corrections will not change your actual test score.  That would need to be done via "retesting."
*Retests are done to show that you have learned the material and can demonstrate that knowledge in test form.  You retest by section and will receive the better FULL CREDIT score (original or retest) for your final grade added to the other sections.
*Retest dates will be given after spring break.
Test Corrections are Due Thursday

Homework for Monday, March 27

Assignment: Quizlet!
The intention of this homework is to help you to feel prepared for tomorrow's test.  Please practice any area(s) you feel weak in and make note of your mistakes so you can learn from them.
You are to complete 12 problems correctly in learn mode: either all of one set or a mix of the following (I unfortunately do not have a mixed review set for these skills)
The test will have sections for problem solving using proportions, verbal equations, and applications.
Sets that apply at this time for this test are:
*Verbal Proportion Problems
*Percents and Proportions
*Sven's Proportion Problems
*Proportion Applications

Due by email, a signed note, or printed copy by Tuesday, March 28.

Homework for Thursday, March 23

Assignment: Flower Power - Link!
*the name of this assignment is not the actual name of the worksheet
Use the table and proportions to organize your work.
There are only 7 questions on this page, but three of them are complex!  Take your time, think about them carefully, and don't be afraid when you realize they're not simple.  Work through it until you understand what you are doing.
#5 and #6: These are two-step problems.  We went over these in class ... figure out what you know, use your labels, and don't expect to get the answer in one step.
#7: There is no redo option for this question. Both parts, the "yes" or "no" and the "why" or "why not" must be completely explained. I will be picky about your reasoning!

Quiz Bowl #4

Here is a LINK to the set of questions for Quiz Bowl #4.
Be sure to turn in your typed copy, as per the usual Mr. Gacek guidelines, to Mo's in-basket by Wednesday, March 22.
Mr. Gacek will be giving you some time in your LA class on Monday to work on these, so it is not necessary to have it as homework this weekend.
Quiz Bowl #4 is next Friday, March 24!

Homework for Wednesday, March 15

Assignment: Percentage Boxes Worksheet
I didn't give you a lot of direction for this worksheet, but it's merely a few steps more than we did in class today.  Can you color the given grid in the ratios given?  (Please use actual color)
This will require equivalent ratios ... moving to conversions of fractions, percents, and decimals.
Yep, we've covered a lot and now you are putting it together.  ;-)
Due Thursday

It's your first math homework for the spring trimester!

Assignment: Percents and Proportions - verbal equations
As noted on the assignment sheet (and stressed in class today) ALL proportions must be shown along with your work. Remember, the proportion is your organizational tool and the arithmetic is how you solve it.  You might note that some of these answers won't be what you might think at first ... so setting it up correctly will allow you to trust your answer.  That IS the point!
Due Tuesday (yes, we will have math tomorrow)

Homework for Wednesday, March 1

Assignment:  Lesson 3.4  Finding Percent - Link!
You will find this assignment pretty simple IF you follow the steps we have gone through for setting up proportions recently.  Make sure that you label your proportions and that they match ... what are you solving for?  What do you know?  What does each number represent?
You know that the 100% will always be your whole, right?
