Homework for Thursday, 4/29
Trans Math: Retest Choice
*Come prepared for the retest tomorrow.
*You should have selected homework for tonight that deals with decimal/fraction/percent conversions, applications, or ratios from the back table. Your other option is to "test" one of the Quizlet pages for this unit. (link at right)
*My apologies to Anya, Danny, and Nickan for not getting you something to do as homework tonight. Why don't you just go to Quizlet and pick something to practice? (Sven always likes attention ...)
*Due Friday
Pre-Algebra: pg 355, 7 - 19
*This lesson is on Percent of Change (page 352)
*Remember that you find the percent of change in the same way, whether it is an increase or a decrease. The difference is in how you LABEL your answer.
*Use examples 1 & 2 for problems 7 - 13.
*Use example 3 for problems 14 & 15.
*Use example 4 for problems 16 - 19.
*Just trust the equations... seriously!

*First, your profile should include your name, age, spouse, children, gross annual income, occupation, and stock owned. That's it!
*DO NOT fill in your net monthly income, your miles to work, or your transportation at this time.
*"Previously known as" at the bottom of the profile refers to who had your life for the past two years. If it is a new life, then write, "new!"
*Also complete your family picture. Be creative, but don't be crazy. These will eventually be posted in the hallway for everyone to see. This includes other students, teachers, prospective parents, etc. Be appropriate, please.

*Due Wednesday
Be sure to meet with your stock broker!
Pre-Algebra: pg. 348, 8 - 22.
*This lesson introduces the percent equation (see page. 345), but you are welcome to use any of the methods for solving a percent problem that you are comfortable with (see the box on page 347). It's really more a way of thinking about a percent problem.

*Think about the application problems carefully. These test your ability to apply these methods correctly ... or not.
*Due Wednesday
Be sure to meet with your 6th grade client and come ready to invest!

Update 12:44 p.m. Sunday
MOST of the pre-algebra retests have been entered into Teacherease. Much, much better, by the way!
Shayla, Shiori, and Hannah I do NOT have your test corrections and cannot post your scores until I do. By the way, there are two sets of test corrections without a name on the "no name wall."
I have made it through a huge stack of the redone and late papers and they have now been posted, but there is still a short stack to go. I am taking a break to work outside whilst the sun is shining, then will be back to finish.

Update for the Weekend, 4/17
Everyone,
I have two NOVA soccer games to attend today at 10:00 and noon, but after that I will be correcting papers and tests for most of my weekend hours. You can check Teacherease this evening, but don't expect it to all be complete until later Sunday. Please check for my timely updates.
Trans Math: Test on Monday!
*Percentages, Proportions, Ratios, and Probability.
*You also need to be able to convert fractions, to decimals, to percentages, and back.
*PLEASE use the Quizlet pages to practice if you need to.
Pre-Algebra: Think about those stock investments!
*On Tuesday we will begin creating your portfolios, so you may want to have an idea of what you will be investing in.
*Depending on how my weekend goes (timewise), I may try to create a list of stocks that have been "taken" and post it or make a link to it here. If nothing else, I will make a list to hang in the classroom so you can see it daily.

Spring Break update
What to do this spring break? Take a break!
However, you can look forward to ...
Trans Math: completing the ratios, proportions, and percentages unit. I plan to have the test during conference week; most likely Monday the 19th.
Feel free to take a trip to Quizlet and get some practice in ... if you are looking for something to do, that is.
Pre-Algebra: We are building towards the retest on Thursday, April 15, so I can have your new scores in by spring conferences. Be thinking about what you and your study partner will be practicing this week. We will have a few application lessons, but you will also be picking your own focus for the homework.
I am updating your grades daily, but it's going slowly ... keep checking back in!
Happy spring,
Mo ;-)
