Homework for Wednesday, 2/19
Assignment: Pre-test choice!
As we went over in class today, this assignment will be worth 6 points:
2 points for completing the assignment
2 points for turning it in on time, before math class, Thursday 2/20
2 points for correcting it and making any necessary corrections.
Your choices were:
*the Take Home Pre-Quiz
*Apps with Sven
*Calculating with Fractions
*Quizlet
The three worksheets have their keys on the back of the worksheet. But seriously, the important part is that you know what you know, learn your weaknesses, and practice! Do yourself a favor and think through the problems on your own.
If Sven is stumping you, there IS a study guide HERE that goes over how to think about each of the problems. Break it down and think about sensible answers. And remember: no Runts will be harmed in the working of these problems.

Homework for Thursday, February 13
Assignment: Student Choice
Today you were to choose from a variety of assignments, selecting whatever you feel the most need for feedback on prior to the test next Thursday. Whatever you asked for, you got it!
Now, the story is that this is not my computer I'm typing on, so many of my "things" are on my laptop that is currently suffering from an unknown illness. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow.
In any case, if you want an assignment tonight, my recommendation is to go to Quizlet and select any of the fraction options. The best application option is there too.
*Maddy & Rizley, if you don't want to do a Quizlet option, please email me and I will see what I can do.
Due Friday if you want my feedback!

Assignments: Application Problems + Extra
Here's the glitch tonight: my laptop isn't working! So for now, I'm using our home PC, but that means I don't have access to the documents on my laptop at all. So if you forgot/lost your homework, consider the link I have posted here as good:
Application Assignment for Fractions
I don't have a copy of the extra option homework here either, but you can still pick up a copy tomorrow if you want to.

Homework for Monday, Feb 10
Assignment: Choice Fraction Multiplication
Today you chose from three assignments -
J) Just let me practice multiplication (Robot Rules ws)
C) Challenge me to cross cancel (pg 16)
Both of these assignments benefit from cross canceling, but don't worry about it if it stresses you out. The second worksheet gives you more opportunities for practice; both have the level of fractions you need to have mastered for the test.
A) Applications (Fractions pg 9)
Be careful with the applications that you follow the steps and answer the questions! The trick is in doing the right thing, not necessarily the "easy" thing. (Oh! SoEmo deja vu)
ALL answers need to be in simplest form with no common factors left between the numerator and denominator (1/2 point).
Answers may be in mixed numeral form or improper fractions when applicable; either is correct as long as it's in simplest form.
Jaden - please complete option A above; the title is a copy of the worksheet.

Homework for Wednesday, February 5
Assignment: Map Distances ws
(aka the deceptive worksheet)Use the map to answer the questions; remember that it is NOT to scale, you will need to use the fractions to answer the questions.
*No short-cuts! Follow the roads
*Make sure you answer all parts of each question.
*On question #5, Tom begins at his house. He does not need to run his errands in the given order and he will not return home. Be extra careful on this one!

Homework for Tuesday, February 4
Assignments: Factors #2 (Mo's choice)
Today we got a look at how factor trees and prime factorization can help us to simplify fractions. I'm going to guess that they are even more valuable than that, but you'll have to wait a bit longer. For now, know that factor trees help you to SEE how simplifying works and they will also help you to see ways of thinking about GCFs, LCMs, and multiplying/dividing in general!
Your assignment today was based upon what you chose for the Factor Choice #1 and how well you completed it as well as your background (comfort level) as expressed on your take-home sheet.
*3.1 Factor Trees
*4.1 Practice with Pime Factorization
*Prime Factors of Monomials (available online here, but it's tougher!)
*4.2 GCF of Monomials

Assignment: Addition Choice
Hey, I know I am a frustrating student to teach, but I want you to understand that it's not nearly enough to say, "do this," to your students and have them make sense of it. Or remember it beyond the classroom. Sure, I could have just done what you told me to do, but why would I? If that's how you are learning math, it's also why you might be forgetting math and why math with variables will probably be super horrible for you. Always THINK about what you are doing and you will be surprised how much easier a lot of math will seem.
Just know that you will have to teach me more, so tighten up your explanations! (ARGH, Mo!)
Choices today included:
*Add & Subtract with common denominators, pg 43
*Add & Subtract Unlike Fractions, pg 44
*Mixed Numbers addition, pg 20
*11.3 Negative addition (and subtraction?!?)
*Addition Equations
None of these are currently available here online. I will see what I can do by this evening.
