Finance Park Book -
#8) Paycheck, pages 14 - 15 (18 points)
*Page 14 gives you an example of a paycheck. There are also three questions on this page that you will most likely need to ask an adult about. Please do! Each of those is worth one point.
*Page 15 requires that you use proportions to determine the taxes (deductions) for each of the three boxes (5 points per box). Please feel free to use a calculator. You should also round to the nearest CENT ... do not use decimals beyond the hundredth place. In other words, answers should come in the form of $123.45 not $123 nor $123.456789456789...
Aim for this Thursday to have this completed.
Other notes:
Pre-Tests (hand-out) must be turned in to Mo by Monday, May 4, or a late point will be deducted. Check it off in your workbook after you turn it in so that you remember to do so.
#7) Lawn Job, pages 21 - 22, we have gone over extensively in class.
*Please use page 21 as your source for fixed costs, variable costs, etc. There are three scenarios you are working through; most of the information is on this page.
*On page 22 work down the page using the information from 21; you may use a calculator too. Question #5 does have wrong answers ... think about how profit and loss are figured.
*Income is the money that is earned. You use the income to pay wages (how much the employee earns) and costs (fixed and variable). Explain that you understand income and how it helps you to pay wages and costs ... again, the concepts of profit and loss are used here.
As always, your parents will be extremely helpful; this is a hands-on discussion workbook!
Come prepared on Monday, May 4, to start living and balancing your life!
