Social Emotional Health/Math October 3

Social Emotional Health: Today we went over the most frequently selected values for our All-School agreement and redefined them to what they mean for a person. But importantly, we also discussed how those look in a classroom. That the values we hold as a school must be present in how we learn together, work together, and exist together. We acknowledged that these are applicable whether or not we like the project, situation, or person. We want to be people who are valued for who we are.

Words to ask about: Respectful, Inclusive, Welcoming, and Kind

Math: Today teams put together their "dream teams" for our marshmallow/toothpick relay. Funny thing was, after 3 previous weeks of practice, two of the teams felt it was okay to start using visuals for explaining the build. Unfortunately for them, this was a verbal-listening challenge and they were disqualified from eligibility for the win. What this does emphasize, however, is their growing recognition that perhaps visual aids, like notes and pictures, can help in both communicating and remembering information! Hmm ... ;-)

Math Class Task (participation): Students began writing their questions for our first Quiz Bowl, coming soon! The directions and guidelines are in their math Google Classroom, and the due date is next Thursday, October 9. If they did not complete it in class today, remind them to do so!

The questions should printed and handed into my in-basket, then marked as complete in the Google Classroom.
