Please complete any missing or redone papers, then come prepared tomorrow to work on Frodoland!
There will be homework on Wednesday & Thursday, so take advantage of having tonight "off" to catch up on assignments in your other classes as well.
RETESTS: will be Wednesday & Thursday during lunch. Only.
It's almost the end of the trimester!

Homework for Monday, February 27
Assignment: Applications - Percent to Fraction and Fraction to Percent - Link!
Use proportions to set up these problems, then whichever method you are most comfortable using to complete them. Organizing them IS the issue ... the arithmetic is currently not the struggle. Once you can manipulate these kinds of equations easily, you're good to go!

Homework Update: February 22 & 23
Whoa! Two days without a homework link from me. At least all of you were in class both of these days, so hopefully you are remembering to pick up the worksheets at the end of class. Be sure to grab one off the assignment board if you have lost yours. The assignments were:
Wednesday: Equivalent Fractions, Decimals, and Percents
Thursday: Proportion Applications
Be sure to check TeacherEase for any assignments you might still be missing. The end of the trimester is March 3!
Fraction retests begin Friday, February 24 at lunches, all weekdays except next Tuesday and next Friday. You may takes one or two sections per lunch, but you must finish any section you start during that lunch period, so choose wisely!

Assignment: Ratio and Proportion Applications - Link!
Use labels to set up and complete these problems easily. The numbers aren't difficult, but setting it up might be if you're not careful ... you can do these!

Homework for Wednesday, February 15
Assignment: Proportions pg 43 (Link!)
Use the steps we have practiced in class to solve these proportions. As we move into applications with proportions, you will happy to have this rhythm down.
*Some answers will be decimals. ALL ANSWERS should end or repeat within three decimal places; please complete those steps.
*NO CALCULATORS. You know how to do decimal problems, right? ;-)

Homework for Valentine's Day!
Assignment: Determining Distances (there is no copy of this assignment online)
Be sure to follow these directions. I suggested you take notes in class, but now that you are home ...
a) You are to set up every single problem as a ratio: x miles/ y inches = 500 miles/1 inch
These ratios need to be visible in your work or you will not get credit for them.
b) You are to measure the lines to the nearest 1/16 of an inch. Be as accurate as you can be. Do not use centimeters. Convert your fractions to decimals using the conversion examples I gave you on the sheet or solve as a division problem. This is your value for "y."
c) You are not to use a calculator for this assignment. Do the math! Your answer to the ratio, x, is the mileage between each pair of cities.

Homework for Monday, February 13
Assignment: Supermarket Math - Link!
Complete the six problems using proportional problem solving as we did in class.
ALL work must be done by hand (no calculators), use labels, and be shown on the page.
*Please note that the way we did it is more detailed than the algebraic formula they show you, but it is the same thing with one step left out of the directions on the page.
- First - Multiply diagonally
- Then - Divide your answer by the remaining number.
Get used to the steps and the problems will still seem "simple" even as the arithmetic gets more complex. Trust me. ;-)

Weekend Update
Well, the snow certainly threw off MY plans! (At least I have my internet back now) Hopefully we are all adjusting to the movement of assignments and deadlines well. I apologize if the communications from all of us seem confusing, but we work with you to get it all straightened out.
For math:
-Wednesday your homework was pre-test choice, either Quizlet or a hard-copy of an assignment you requested from me. Those assignments were graded complete (if you completed it) or incomplete (if you did not hand anything in to me).
-Thursday we had our Fractions Test and there was NO homework.
-Friday I handed back your Fractions Test to you and the expectation is that you will complete your test corrections as homework and hand it in Monday. Because I do not regularly assign weekend homework and there is no "grade penalty" for late work, you may certainly turn this assignment in later, but it will be marked as late in TeacherEase and be recorded as a zero until you remember to turn it in. It is up to you if it's worth saving for Monday night when you WILL have your regular math homework as well. *Note - even if you received 100% on the test, you need to turn in your "Test Corrections" sheet for credit!
Retests are forthcoming and happen during lunch periods in room #1. Retests are given by section and will be announced in class.
This next week we will begin delving into fraction extensions like ratios, proportions, percentages, and conversions, in addition to continuing our Frodoland work. Busy but fun stuff!
Stay tuned,
Mo ;-)

Homework for Wednesday, February 1
Assignment: Map It Out!
Sorry this is so late, but I do not have a copy of this assignment available online either.
Follow the directions ... that's the task. Look up the terms if you need to. Be accurate in your measurements. Make sure I can identify what you have drawn; label if you think it will help.
