Homework for Wednesday, January 9

Assignment: Student Choice - (pre-test)
You chose an assignment today to help you prepare for the test tomorrow.  Please note that the important thing is that you use it to prepare: be sure to check over your answers (key on the back) and understand your mistakes.
*If you selected the Comprehensive Review of Negatives worksheet and you aren't sure you understand your mistakes, please click on this link and you will not only find a copy of the worksheet and a key, you will also find a breakdown of the different answers.  I want you to understand why you missed something ... was it a step? an arithmetic error? a value?  Check it out!
Note - #6, the median, should be 2, not 4.
#8, the mean, should read negative 11, not positive.
ALSO - #11 on the answer key of this worksheet is incorrect and should be 135.
See the real answers and reasons on the above link.
You can thank Alina C. for alerting me to most of these errors and  you can give David a hard time for making the key for me!  To be fair, he made it in about 3 minutes, but you can see that we teachers still make mistakes too, especially when we rush.  Sorry for any confusion this has caused.  Mo ;-)
*If you selected Integer Sums and Differences, you can follow this more general link on how to add and subtract negatives using my cowboy method.
*If you selected Even More Ops with Negatives, you will find a detailed explanation of each problem with the key on your worksheet.
*If you selected Quizlet, you should be sure to find someone (like your wonderful parents or an older sibling) who can help you understand any mistakes you make there too.
Other notes:
*Warm up on the Quizlet basic practice set.  Remember that Claire is hoping that no one will beat the record time she has set!  Seriously, this is a great warm-up for the bigger stuff.
*Experiment with eating something wonderful while you work on your math tonight that you can also snack on during the test tomorrow.  It's a fun idea and certainly can't hurt!  We will have people who try this experiment report to us on Friday how they felt it worked.
*Get your rest tonight.  If you are tired, your brain will have a harder time focusing.
If you forgot your worksheet and/or don't want to do Quizlet after all, there is a copy of the 2nd Comprehensive Review sheet (and it's answer key) HERE.
Due Thursday
